SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah head coach Elaine Elliott has been named the VII Coach of the Year, and senior guards Alli Bills and Julie Krommenhoek have been honored as District VII All-Americans by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Elliott, who has a 302-133 record in 15 seasons at Utah, guided the Utes to a 21-6 record, a tie for the Western Athletic Conference Mountain Division championship and an NCAA Tournament berth this season. Utah also broke into the national polls for the first time this season and climbed to as high as a tie for ninth in the USA Today/ESPN poll on Jan. 26. The Utes were ranked nine-consecutive weeks entering the NCAA Tournament.
Krommenhoek was named a District VII All-American for the fourth-consecutive season. The American Fork, Utah, native ranked 37th in the NCAA in scoring with an average of 20.2 points per game. She also led the nation with 3.6 three-pointers per game. Krommenhoek was also named an honorable mention Associated Press All-American and first-team all-WAC. With 2,087 career points, she is the all-time scoring leader in Utah and WAC history.
Bills made the District VII All-America team for the first time. She was the second-leading assists getter in the nation and led the WAC with an average of 7.9 per game. Bills also ranked eight in the WAC in steals (2.7) and averaged 11.1 points per game. The Sandy, Utah, native was also named first-team all-WAC. With 612 career assists, she is the all-time leader in Utah and WAC history.
