Indianapolis, Ind. - Utah diver
Amanda Casillas finished her first day of competition at the NCAA Women's Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium.
"It was great to get Amanda into the meet today and get that first event under her belt," said Utah diving coach
Richard Marschner. "She had a strong showing on the one-meter and she was much better than her score would indicate. I'm very happy with her overall poise and performance today. She has an off day tomorrow before her tower event on Saturday."
Casillas dove in the prelims for the one-meter event and was unable to qualify for the finals. She took 40th in the event with a total score of 242.45. She finished sixth in Pac-12 competition and this was her first time competing in the event at the NCAA Championships.
Casillas will take a break tomorrow and will be back in the pool on Saturday where she will compete in the platform event. Last season, she finished 27th in the nation and competed at the UD Olympic diving trials in the same event
Swimmers
Stina Colleou and
Genevieve Robertson will compete tomorrow in the 100 breast. Prelims are set to begin at 10 a.m. ET with finals at 6 p.m. ET.
