Alexia Petrovic was named to the 2018 Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention team, it was announced today by the league office.
Petrovic shined for the Utes in her final season, coming away with a 9-9 record at the No. 1 position in singles and was also 8-7 with
Jena Cheng at No. 1 doubles that included a 4-3 conference record. This is Petrovic's first Pac-12 All-Conference honor.
The Burr Ridge, Ill. native played all 18 of her dual matches at the No. 1 position this season after playing at the No. 3 in 2017. She claimed two ranked wins during the 2018 season in singles play, including a victory over then No. 11 ranked Ena Shibahara of UCLA, who won Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year.
Her win against the Bruins was the first top-15 singles win for the Utes since 2008. She ended up playing against seven ranked opponents with four of the matches going unfinished, ending her season ranked 104th in the ITA Rankings.
In doubles this season, Cheng and Petrovic knocked off three ranked foes, starting with a win over the No. 58 doubles team out of Arizona State. They continued their winning ways to take down the No. 10-ranked team out of UCLA and the No. 32 team out of USC, finishing the season ranked No. 78 by the ITA.
