SALT LAKE CITY -- Junior Johanna Nielsen of Springville, Utah has been named Western Athletic Conference women's cross country athlete of the week. Senior Jeff Simonich of Tooele, Utah has been named the WAC men's cross country athlete of the week. Nielsen finished fourth at the Colorado State Invitational, finishing the 5K in a time of 17:57.83.
This is the second week in a row that she has placed fourth at a meet. The Ute women placed fourth overall at the seven team invitational. Simonich placed first at the Colorado State Invitational, running the 8K course in 24:48.18. This is his second consecutive first place finish at an invitational. The men placed fourth out of seven teams at the CSU invite.
