The Utah men's and women's swimming and diving teams resume Western

meet is scheduled for Sat., Jan. 30 at 1:00 p.m. Both meets will be
held in Ute Natatorium. Wyoming's women are 4-0 while the men are
1-2. Last season, the Ute men dominated the Cowboys 172-68 and the
women beat the Cowgirls 132-111. The Air Force men's team carries a
9-0 record; the women are 5-6. The Utah men's team tied with the
Falcons 121-121, while the women lost 133-109 last year.
Utes to Watch
Although hampered by the flu against Washington, junior Matt
Chamberlain won the 200* IM and 100 fly. He also anchored the
first-place 400 free relay team. Chamberlain leads the Utes this
season in the 200 IM with a 1:54.00 best men's time. Versus
Washington, the Ute women's relay team of Amber Nye, Nicole Lindburg,
Annika Lundmark and Callie Robinson added another win to Utah's
string of relay victories by winning the 400 medley relay. Junior
Heidi Hausknecht won the 100* free in the first meet and was second
in the 100 free, 50 free and 100 fly in the second meet. She has the
best times by a Ute this year in the 100 fly (57.26) and 100 free
(52.87).
Last Week
The University of Utah men's and women's swimming and diving teams
competed in a 46-event double dual meet versus Washington Jan. 22.
The teams competed in the short program in the morning and held the
long program in the evening. This is highly uncommon for reasons of
athlete fatigue and the repetition of some events. The Utah men's
team, despite being hampered by injuries, defeated Washington twice,
144-109 and 88-78, bringing the men's dual meet record to 4-3. The
Ute women's team (2-6) lost 146-84 and 97-69.
