The Facts
Utah is the premier collegiate gymnastics program in the nation, with a record 10 national championships, including four in the 1990s.
Utah has produced more All-Americans than any other school.
The University of Utah has led the nation in attendance in nine of the last 10 years and owns every gymnastics attendance record.
The Famous
Former Ute gymnast Missy Marlowe, a 1988 United States Olympian, is the only gymnast in history to win the Honda Broderick Cup.
Megan McCunniff, Kristen Kenoyer, Missy Marlowe and Suzanne Metz all finished their Ute careers as the NCAA all-around record holder.
Ute Head Coach Greg Marsden is the winningest coach in college gymnastics and has been named National Coach of the Year a record seven times.
The Facilities
The 15,000-seat Jon M. Huntsman Center is one of the most beautiful and functional arenas in the nation. Seven national gymnastics championships, as well as a number of elite competitions, have been held in the Huntsman Center. The NCAA Championships return to the JHC this April 22-24.
The Utes train in a brand new state-of-the-art, stand alone facility near the Huntsman Center. The Womens Gymnastics Training Center opened its doors in November, 1998. The $2 million project, raised entirely from private sources, is an 18,000 square foot structure featuring all the latest models of gymnastics equipment and matting, loose foam and port-a-pits for each apparatus area, specially designed sound, lighting and ventilation systems, and locker, training, aerobics, strength and rehabilitation areas.
The Fans
Over the last seven years, Utah gymnastics has averaged almost 11,000 spectators a home meet (10,900). No other womens college team has averaged five-digits in multiple years.
The 1993 Ute gymnasts set a record for all womens collegiate sports by performing before an average of 13,164 fans per home meet.
Utah also owns the all-time single-meet attendance mark of 15,238 and has had three crowds in excess of 15,000.
