SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah cross country team travels to Seattle, Wash., to compete in the Sundodger Invitational hosted by Washington on Sat., Sept. 25. Some of the best teams from the NCAA, NAIA and club competitors are expected to participate. The men will run an 8k race beginning at 10:15 a.m.(PT) and the women will run a 5k race beginning at 12:00 at West Seattle's Lincoln Park. Utah did not compete last week and Head Coach Mike Jones thinks it will be an advantage to his team.
"The week off from competition really helps us because we were able to get more good hard work outs in," says Jones. "I expect our men's team to challenge for one of the top three finishes this weekend. We will only be taking our top seven runners from our men's team."
The women's team placed seventh at this competition last year. Lauren Adams returns to the team after coming off an injury and will run in Seattle. "Lauren came back in pretty good shape," said Jones. "She has maintained good physical condition, everything except the actual pounding of the legs."
Utah is off again next weekend but will return to action Oct. 9 to participate in the Arizona State Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.
