THIS WEEK: On October 14, the men's team is off to the Pre-NCAA Invitational in Ames, Iowa and the women's team heads to the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev.
LAST WEEK: At the Long Beach State Invitational on Oct. 7, the men finished in first place. B.J. Christenson was the first Ute runner to finish and second runner overall to finish (25:09). Following Christenson were Erik Vernon in fifth place (25:33) , Adam Stark in eighth place (25:40), and Colby Frazier in ninth place (25:41).
Leading the women's team to a second place finish was Charity Catmull. Catmull finished 12th overall in 18:43. Following Catmull were Trina Bateman in 15th place (18:55), Britta Vander Werff in 21st place (19:14) and Jennifer Brusch in 24th place (19:18).
QUOTING COACH MIKE JONES: On the men's team-" I was so excited about our performance! We accomplished what we've been trying to do all season, and that is run together in a fast paced pack."
On the women's team-- "The women had some tough competition, but they rose to the challenge. They ran well as a team, but next time our goal is to have a top 10 finisher."
COMING UP: The MWC Cross Country Championships will be held on October 28, in Fort Collins, Colo.
