THIS WEEK: The MWC Championships will be held October 28, in Fort Collins, Colo. The cross country team has high expectations for placing at the championships. Runners finishing in the top-14 will be named to the first or second all-MWC team.
COACH JONES ON THE MEN'S TEAM-"We were predicted to finish fourth at the beginning of the season. I think we have a great chance at beating Air Force and finishing third, but we'll have to have our second and third place runners finish ahead of theirs. BYU will finish first and CSU second, but I think we can finish a close third. Teren Jameson should finish in the top-10 and B.J. Christenson and Alexsandar Tomas have a great chance for a top-25 finish."
COACH JONES ON THE WOMEN'S TEAM- "We don't have an experienced runner who can stay with the lead group, so our goal is a finisher in the top-20. I believe Charity Catmull will finish in the top-20 and Nellie Hammons and Trina Bateman have a shot as well. Our women's team has done a great job this year and I'm shooting for a fourth place finish. We were predicted to finish sixth, but we beat UNLV and San Diego State, who were predicted to finish ahead of us, at the UNLV Invitational."
COMING UP: The Utes are off to the NCAA Mountain Regional Qualifying Meet on Nov. 11, in Ogden, Utah. The meet is open to all runners trying to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
