Salt Lake City - The University of Utah baseball team has announced the signing of Tanner Wootan.

Wootan is a switch hitting shortstop from Mesa Mountain View High School in Mesa, Ariz.

"Tanner fulfills our needs as an outstanding young shortstop. His knowledge of the game and his athletic ability will give him a chance to have an immediate impact on our program as a freshman," said Head Coach Tim Esmay.

Esmay is a former Arizona State Sun Devil player and coach.
