INDIANAPOLIS - Utah's Heidi Hausknecht finished 22nd in the 100 fly (1:01.61) at the 2000 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Hausknecht made history last season becoming the first female swimmer honored as an All-American when she swam to an eighth-place finish in the event. At the inaugural Mountain West Conference Championship, she won the 50 free and 100 fly and swam to a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle.
Hausknecht missed the first six meets of the season recovering from a back injury. She came back against San Diego State to win the 400 medley relay, the 100 free and finished second in the 200 IM. Overall, she won eight individual dual meet events and swam to five second-place finishes this season. Hausknecht is only the second woman in school history to compete at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships and is the only female athlete to make back-to-back appearances.
