THIS WEEK: The Utes are looking to improve on last week's success as they head to the Colorado State Ram Invitational in Fort Collins Colo. on Sept. 9, at 9:00 a.m.
LAST WEEK: The Utes opened the season at the Idaho State Invitational in Pocatello, Idaho. The men finished second behind Weber State, which is ranked 16th in the nation. Leading the men was junior Teren Jameson, who finished first in 19:19.2. Following Jameson were B.J. Christenson in sixth place (19:19.2), Eric Vernon in eighth place (20:07.8), Colby Frazier in 12th place( 20:17.4), and Lion Gallegos in 13th place (20:19.4).
The Ute women's team finished fifth overall at the invitational. Freshman Charity Catmull placed 18th in 12:55.7. Catmull was followed by teammates Britta Schaer in 24th place (13:08.2), and Trina Bateman, in 30th place (13:22.9).
MEN'S OUTLOOK: "The men finished strong in Pocatello behind Jameson, but we're looking to improve our team score. As a team, we finished with a split time of 60 seconds, but we're looking to decrease that time to 45 seconds," said Coach Jones.
WOMEN'S OUTLOOK: "Our women's team did well in the season opener. They finished as a team with a split time of 33 seconds. The goal for this week is to increase their pace to help individual results and lower the overall team score. Watch for our women's team to continually improve as the freshman gain collegiate experience," said Coach Jones.
COMING UP: The Utes are off to the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sept. 23.
