RECENT RESULTS: The Utes finished the regular season schedule with two meets last weekend. On Friday, the women lost to the New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque 133-108.
"New Mexico was a competition where we needed to step up and plain out swim a team that is similar to us. Unfortunately, I believe that many of our swimmers were caught hoping an average performance would get the job done.........it obviously didn't. In the same token, it is very difficult to win 7 of 13 events again and not win the competition......our team is small, and every performance counts.....from lane one to the middle of the pool," stated Coach Litzinger.
Saturday, both the men's and women's teams met in Stockton, Calif. to take on the Pacific Tigers, with disappointing results. The men lost 151-104 and the women fell 150-99.
"At Uof P both teams performed extremely well. We faced a team that was in the same transition a few seasons ago, and we were extremely competitive. The Men raced very well, and we posted 16 season best times, as for the women. they also rallied form disappointment on Friday to swim several season bests. That is the type of momentum we were hoping for going into the MWC Championships," says Coach Litzinger.
COMING UP: So what's next for the Utes? Both teams will have a short time to train before they head to Oklahoma City, Okla., for the Mountain West Conference Championships, which will be held Feb. 14-17.
