Ute Gymnasts Select Shannon Bowles As Team Captain

SALT LAKE CITY -
Shannon Bowles, a six-time All-American and a senior on this year's Ute gymnastics team, has been elected captain by her teammates. Bowles, a former U.S. National Team member, is a three-time balance beam All-American. She has also won All-America honors in the all-around and on the uneven bars and floor exercise during her Ute career. A native of Lee, N.H., Bowles is a 1998 GTE/CoSIDA District 8 Academic All-American and a three-time gymnastics Scholastic All-American. She and her Ute teammates are preparing for the 2002 season, which begins on January 11 when the Utes host Ohio State in the Huntsman Center.
