This Week
The University of Utah men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Albuquerque N.M. to compete in the Mountain West Conference Championships. The men's team will face three nationally ranked teams this weekend: Air Force (9), BYU (16) and Colorado State (22). The women's team will compete against two ranked teams with BYU ranked 2nd and Colorado State ranked 13th. Competition begins at 10:00 a.m.
Quoting Head Coach Brain Appell
"We are really anxious for the Mountain West Conference Cross Country Championships. The team is motivated and ready to give their best effort of the year."
"Teren Jameson has an excellent chance to win the men's individual title and the team should place fourth. The conference currently has three nationally ranked teams ahead of the Utes, but we will try to be in a position to take advantage of any mistakes that other teams might make and place higher than fourth."
"On the women's side, this year is a building year and we are hoping that each athlete can run up to their current ability level. We have not competed against many teams in the conference, so estimating the possible finishing place will be difficult. This will be a good experience for the future."
After This
The Utes will travel to Provo, Utah to compete in the Mountain Region Championships on Nov. 10.
