I really want you guys to win your games. I especially want to watch you play BYU in the finals and kill them. My parents are coming down to watch but I have to stay with my grandparents and they are big BYU fans and I want to cheer you on and watch you win. Both the men's and womn'ss basketball teams have done the University and the state proud. As you both go into the MWC tourny I wish you well. Don't get caught up in all the "hoop la" and remember why your there....To bring the championship home. Coach Elliot and Hunsaker certainly deserve coach of the year honors. Being the best has it's price. Every team you play throws everything they have at you like it's their last chance to prove themselves. You've all done extremely well though. You've kept your cool, kept your perspective, and some of you will no doubt move on the make enormous amounts of money in the NBA. Cherish this time though, when each game is played for the love of the game and the pride of your school. As you look back, these will be some of the greatest memories of your life. Give it your all, and know that, win or lose, if you give it your all, you'll have no regrets.
Thanks for making '01 a very, very special year for Ute fans. May your pride in yourselves, your team and your school, lead you to victory in the conference tournament, in the NCAA, and in the rest of your lives.
