THIS WEEK:
Utah will compete at the Countrywide Home Loans Intercollegiate on Monday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 22. Utah's line-up consists of Casey Fowles, Carl Jensen, Garrett Clegg, Luke Swilor and Steve Newren.
THE OPPOSITION:
The Countrywide Intercollegiate includes 21 teams made up of nine California teams including host Cal State Northridge's Red and Black teams. The tournament also hosts four Utah teams: Utah, Southern Utah, Utah State and Weber State. Tee off for the 54-hole event will begin on Monday at 7:30 a.m. (PT) for the first two rounds and the final round will begin on Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. (PT).
REVIEWING LAST WEEK:
Utah finished 12th at the Fresno Lexus Golf Classic. The Utes were led by Luke Swilor who put up a team leading six-over (222), finishing tied for 25th overall. Garrett Clegg scored a seven-over (223) as did Steve Newren, leaving them in a tie for 32nd. Casey Fowles contributed an 11-over (227), good for a tie at 49th and Carl Jensen finished with a 12-over (228).
UTE NOTES:
This Tournament will be the last of the fall season; Utah will not play again until Feb. 19-21 at the John Burns Intercollegiate. Utah is currently ranked sixth in the Mountain West Conference, and 84th in the Golfweek Division I men's team rankings. Leading the Utes this season is Carl Jensen who is 20th on the conference leaderboard.
