Cross Country Finishes Competition at Fall Classic

PROVO, Utah - The University of Utah cross country teams competed in the Fall Classic race on Sat., Sept. 14. The men's team, running a four mile race, finished fourth (82 points), while the women finished third (92 points) running a 6K race.

Junior Delfino Arevalo led the men's team with a 13th place finish (20:42.70). Following Arevalo were senior Lion Gallegos at 15th (20:48.10) and junior Colby Frazier at 16th (20:48.60).

On the women's side, sophomore Charity Vernon led the way placing 21st (22:39.30), followed by freshmen Stacie Grover at 26th (22:57.00) and junior Tara Hall at 29th (23:11.90).

"I am pleased with how the athletes are performing," stated head coach Brian Appell. "We are on track to place well at the conference and regional championships. As the season progresses and the race distances move to five and six miles, we should move into striking distance."

Next on the Utes' schedule is the Montana State Invitational in Bozeman, Mont., on Sept. 21.
