SUNRIVER, Ore. - The University of Utah men's golf team concluded the final round at the Mountain West Conference Championships on Saturday. Utah finished in a tie for fourth place at four-over-par, 868 (290-289-289). The final round 289 for the Utes bumped them ahead of Colorado State on the final day and into a tie with UNLV. Leading the way for Utah was Garrett Clegg who finished with a five-under, 211 (69-73-69). Clegg was in ninth place after two rounds but his final round of 69 helped him to a third place finish individually.
Steve Newren shot a two-over, 218 (73-70-75) to finish in 10th; Carl Jensen added a three-over, 219 (74-72-73) placing him 16th. Luke Swilor dropped to 30th after a final round 78. Swilor finished with a 10-over, 226 (74-74-78) and Casey Fowles finished in 33rd with a 12-over, 228 (77-79-72).
New Mexico won the championship with a team score of nine-under, 855 (276-288-291); Michael Letzig was the individual winner as he won in a playoff. Letzig shot a six-under, 210.
