Ute Gymnastics Team Ranks Third In Academics

SALT LAKE CITY -
The University of Utah gymnastics team placed third in the nation in academics in 2002-03 by posting a 3.6357 GPA. It marked the fourth straight year that Utah has finished in the top three in the academic rankings, which are conducted by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women (NACGC/W).
Utah had the best team GPA of any program that advanced to the 2003 NCAA Championships. The only other teams to make the top 12 both on the competitive floor and in the classroom were Nebraska and UCLA, who finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the academic standings.
All 12 of Utah's team members were named NACGC/W Scholastics All-Americans. Leading the way was senior 14-time All-American and 4.0 student Theresa Kulikowski, who recently became the first gymnast in history to be named the Verizon CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year for all NCAA sports.
