2003-04 SEASON REVIEW
The 2003-04 season recently came to an end for the Utah golf team. The year included several highlights, both on the team and individual side. Utah placed sixth at the Mountain West Conference Championships with its top finisher being Ashdon Woods at 14th overall (222, 74-77-71). The MWC is one of the tougher golf league's in the country, with five MWC teams ranking in the Golf Week Top 40 heading into the conference championships.
The Utes wrapped up the season with three second-place finishes: the Falcon Invitational, Wolf Pack Invitational and the Countrywide Intercollegiate. The best team score for Utah came at the Wolf Pack Invitational where it shot a combined 847 (288-285-274). Over the regular-season Utah finished in the top 10 in nine of the 12 tournaments it competed in with five of those being top five finishes.
Garrett Clegg qualified for the NCAA West Regional, where he finished tied for 81st overall. Clegg was the first Ute to qualify for the regional since the 2000 season when Ryan Ellis finished in a tie for 18th. He was also named to the all-Mountain West Conference team for the second year in a row.

Garrett Clegg All-Mountain West Conference
RECAPPING INDIVIDUAL EFFORTS
Chace Bickmore- Redshirted the 2003-04 season. Bickmore made the fall semester honor roll.
Garrett Clegg- Qualified for the NCAA West Regional, where he tied for 81st overall. Clegg earned all-Mountain West Conference honors for the second season in a row. He won the individual crown at the Wolf Pack Invitational with a score of 205 (69-68-68). He posted a second-place finish at the Braveheart Classic and placed third at the Falcon Invitational. Clegg had the low score for Utah in six of the 12 tournaments this season. He made the fall semester honor roll.
Casey Fowles- Fowles led the Utes at the Cougar Classic with a score of 214 (71-70-73). His top finish of the season came at the Countrywide Intercollegiate, where he placed fifth with a score of 214 (70-76-68). He led Utah and was sitting third overall with an opening round score of 70 at the conference championships before being disqualified the following day after a scorecard miscue.
Carl Jensen- Senior was a solid contributor for the Ute team this season. Jensen participated in all but one tournament and had a top finish of 15th at the Ron Moore Classic. His best score came at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in mid-April, where he shot a 217 (75-70-72). Jensen made the fall semester honor roll.
Nick Micek- Played in two tournaments this year. Best score was 225, which came at the Ron Moore Classic. Micek was named to spring semester honor roll.
Steve Newren- Competed in five tournaments this year. Best score came at the Wolf Pack Invite with 218.
Jake Sowby- Played in one tournament this year. Was the golf representative on the Ute Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Nick Summers- Played in two tournaments, posting a 227 score in both.
Luke Swilor- Competed in all 12 tournaments for Utah. Finished a season-best second at the Falcon Invitational with a score of 210 (71-68-71). Swilor was the Utes top finisher in four different tournaments. Named to fall and spring semester honor rolls and the spring Dean's List.
Ashdon Woods- Woods was Utah's top finisher (14th overall) at the Mountain West Conference Championships with a score of 222 (74-77-71). The score was a season-best for him. Woods competed in the last four tournaments for the team. His second-best finish was at the Cougar Classic, where he earned 26th place with a score of 217 (70-70-77).
