Colorado Springs, Colo. - Dustin Pimm has been named Mountain West Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for September. The sophomore leads the conference in stroke average at 70.11. This marks Pimm's first conference award of his career, and the first Utah golfer to be tabbed by the conference since Ryan Ellis during the 2001 spring season, back when the award was given weekly.
Pimm's record-setting performance at the Purple and Red Invitational, where he claimed medallist honors with a 14-under 202, leads off his list of accomplishments during the month of September. Pimm's final round of 64 at the Purple and Red set a new course and tournament record, as well as a new career best. The sophomore was named the Golfweek Player of the Week after his performance at the Purple and Red Sept. 19-20.
Pimm has finished at par or better in seven of his nine rounds of golf during the month of September. At the Wolf Pack Classic, the sophomore tied for fourth with a 7-under 209. Pimm's opening tournament of the year was the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Sept. 10-11, where he finished tied for 12th with a 220. Pimm has paced the Utes at all three tournaments the team has competed in this year.
