LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Utah men's golf team finished the final day of competition at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate tied for 11th place. The Utes shot a three-round score of 886 (+22) at the 72-par New Mexico State University Golf Course.
Sophomore Chris Gresh shot a one-over par 73 in the final round after tallying a five-under par 67 in the second round, his lowest round of the year, to tally a three-round score of four-under par (212) and tie for fourth place. Dustin Pimm turned in his best performance of the tournament in the final round with a two-under par 70 to finished at even-par (216) overall. Pimm finished tied for 14th overall.
Senior Steve Newren shot a four-over 76 in the final round to tally a three-round score of 223 (+7) and finish tied for 43rd. Freshman Chance Cota improved on his first two rounds of 79 (+7) by shooting a five-over 77 in the final round. Cota finished with an overall score of 235 (+19) to tie for 71st. Mike Branca shot a six-over 78 in the final round to tally a three-round score of 238 (+22) and finish tied for 76th place.
The Utes take a short break before returning to action Feburary 13-14 at the Southern Utah Thunderbird Invitational in St. George, Utah.
