AUBURN, Ala. -
The Utah gymnastics team begins NCAA Championships competition today, starting at 1:00 p.m. CDT, in Auburn, Ala. Utah, ranked No. 1 in the nation at the conclusion of the regular season, must finish in the top three of its session today to advance to tomorrow's Super Six team championship. Other teams in Utah's qualifying round are LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Penn State.
Utah hopes to put its top lineup on the floor, despite injuries, but a final decision will not be reached until warm-ups for each event. Rachel Tidd (back) and Gritt Hofmann (calf) have been unable to train much, if at all, since regional competition on April 9 due to injuries. Tidd will attempt to go all-around today and Hofmann hopes to be able to compete a floor routine. Preparing as alternates are Katie Kivisto on beam, Kivisto and Gabriella Onodi on floor and Onodi on vault.
