SALT LAKE CITY - Soccer Buzz magazine has rated the 2005 Utah women's soccer recruiting class as the 37th-best in the nation.
Ute head coach Rich Manning will welcome five newcomers this fall as he begins his fourth season at the U. Joining the Utes will be Emalee Rogers (GK, Centerville, Utah), Katy Reineke (M, Salt Lake City), Jen Christoffers (F, Phoenix, Ariz.), Lynzee Lee (GK, Kalispell, Mont.), and Danielle Sample (M, Salt Lake City).
"This is the third straight year that our recruiting class has been ranked in the Top 50 in the country," said Manning. "For me, it says that excellent young players are coming to Utah. That is quite a complement to our program and university."
"This year's high ranking doesn't surprise me. We've got a good group of players coming in. Katy Reineke and Jen Christoffers are regional team players. Lynzee Lee is one of the top `keepers in the country in her class. And I'm excited about the potential of Danielle Sample and Emalee Rogers."
Southern California was tabbed by Soccer Buzz with top 2005 recruiting class, followed by UCLA, Virginia, Santa Clara and Tennessee. Among Mountain West Conference programs, San Diego State was 19th, BYU 36th and TCU 39th.
