Rachel Tidd Is A District VIII Academic All-American

SALT LAKE CITY -
Utah gymnast Rachel Tidd has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII at-large team and is now on the ballot for Academic All-America honors.
Tidd, who last month helped Utah place third at the NCAA Championships, has a 3.87 cumulative grade point average. She won three All-America awards at the 2005 NCAA Championships with her best finish a third-place tie on the uneven bars. In addition to her first-team All-America honors on the bars, she was a second-team All-American in the all-around (12th) and on the vault.
The sophomore had the best uneven score in both the preliminary qualifying session and during Super Six competition at the national championships. The NCAA North Central regional runner-up on both bars and vault, she compiled 17 total victories in 2005 while "hitting" 46 of 49 routines.
