SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah golfer Dustin Pimm finished 17th at the Utah Open, held last week at TalonsCove Golf Club. The Utah sophomore-to-be was the sixth-place amateur finisher in the field.
Pimm opened with rounds of 71 and 73, but came back with a strong final round of 67 to finish five-under par with a total of 211 strokes. He was nine strokes off Nick McKinlay's pace. McKinlay won the tournament with a three-round total of 202 for a -14 score.
Two other current Utes took part in the Utah Open. Nick Micek, who will be a senior this coming season, missed the cut by just one stroke. He finished in 63rd place with his two-round total of 147. Chris Gresh, who will be a sophomore next year, was 109th with a total score of 153.
Former Utes also fared well in the Utah Open. Garrett Clegg took third place with a 12-under score of 204. Another former Ute, Carl Jensen, finished 11th. He was six-under with a total of 210.
