RENO, Nev. - The University of Utah men's golf team finished in fourth place at the Wolf Pack Classic, hosted by the University of Nevada-Reno at the 72-par ArrowCreek Country Club. Utah shot 4-over-par (292) in the first round, improving in the second round by shaving off 10 strokes (282). Utah shot a 3-under par 285 in the final round to tally an overall score of 859 (-5).
For Utah, Dustin Pimm finished 7-under par (209) to finish tied for fourth overall. Pimm followed up his 2-under-par first round with a 5-under par 67 in the second round and an even-par 72 in the final round. Fellow sophomore Chris Gresh posted his best tournament of the year with an even-par 216. Gresh shot a 3-over-par 75 in the first round, followed by a 1-over-par 73 in the second round before shooting his best round, a 4-under-par 68 in the final round. Gresh finished tied for 22nd.
Senior Steve Newren finished two shots back from Gresh, with a three-round score of 218 (+2). Newren shot a 1-under-par 71 in the second round and a 2-over-par 74 in the final round to follow up his 1-over-par first round. Newren tied for 29th place. Freshman Chancellor Cota finished with a 5-over-par 221 overall, with scores of 74 (+2), 76 (+4) and 71 (-1) in each round respectively. Cota finished tied for 41st.
Mike Branca rounded out the Utes with a three-round score of 226 (+10). Branca shot an 8-over-par 80 in the first round, before improving with a 1-under-par 71 and a 3-over-par 75 in the final two rounds respectively. Branca finished tied for 66th overall.
