LOGAN, Utah - Nicki Hugie led the way as the University of Utah cross country team took third place here at the 2.72-mile American West Heritage Center Open on Saturday.
Utah State won the event on 25 points while Weber State took second on 31 points. Both Utah and Boise State took third in totaling 94 points.
Hugie was Utah's top runner as she finished 15th in crossing the finish line in 16:58. Chelsea DiGrazia and Ashlee Warnick were right behind their teammate in taking 16th and 19th, respectively. DiGrazia raced the course in 16:59 while Warnick turned in a 17:11 effort.
Rounding out the rest of the pack for Utah are: Kellie Anderson (23rd, 17:31); Kristin Taylor (29th, 17:57); Lauren Endersen (30th, 17:59); and Caitlin Zeigle (35th, 18:34).
Utah State's Tiffany Strickland won the meet in clocking a 15:36.
The striders return to action next weekend on Saturday, Sept. 10, when they race at the BYU Autumn Classic in Provo, Utah.
