LAS VEGAS - Utah finished Day One at the District 7 Shoot-Out tied for sixth place at one-under-par. The Utes continued a season long trend Monday by starting slow in the morning round, shooting a 289 as a team. The Utes shaved 10 strokes in the afternoon, firing a 279 to close the second round. San Diego State leads the tournament at 18-under-par heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.
"We played poorly in the morning and well in the afternoon," commented Coach Randall McCracken. "We can still place high if we play well tomorrow."
Utah was led by Chris Gresh, who recorded rounds of 71 and 66 to finish at five-under-par and tied for fourth place. Nicholas Larson wasn't far behind, carding back-to-back rounds of 69 to end the day at four-under-par and tied for eighth place. Nick Carter also played well, shooting a 72 and a 70 to finish tied for 25th at even par. Dustin Pimm did not make the trip due to an injury. His status is listed as day to day.
