SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Dustin Pimm paced the Utes at the 2006 Callaway Golf Invitational with a 16-over 232. Pimm shot a 79 (+7) in the first and third round, with a two-over 74 in the second round to finish tied for 41st overall. As a team, Utah shot a three-round score of 965 (+101) to finish in 16th place. San Diego State won the team title with a 16-over 880.
Senior Nick Micek finished with a 25-over 241 to finish tied for 65th overall. Micek shot a nine-over 81 in the first round, followed by an 85 (+13) and a 75 (+3) in the second and third rounds, respectively. Sophomore Chris Gresh finished tied for 73rd overall after shooting a three-round score of 246 (+30). Gresh shot an eight-over 80 in the first round before shooting an 11-over 83 in the final two rounds.
Freshman Chance Cota finished 80th overall with a score of 251 (+35). Cota scored an 85 (+13) in the first round, before improving in the final two rounds with an 84 (+12) and an 82 (+10), respectively. Fellow freshman Mike Branca rounded out the competitors for the Utes with a score of 254 (+38). Branca shot an 81 (+9) in the first round, followed by a 91 (+19) and an 82 (+10) in the final two rounds.
Up next, the Utes travel to Goodyear, Ariz., to compete in the Ron Moore Invitational March 20-21.
