GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Dustin Pimm shot a five-under 67 and a six-under 66 in the first and second rounds, respectively, of the 2006 Ron Moore Invitational to finish the first day in third place with an 11-under 133. As a team, Utah scored a 16-under 560 in the first two rounds of the tournament to finish the day tied for fourth with Denver, New Mexico and Colorado State.
Sophomore Chris Gresh and freshman Mike Branca are both tied for 26th entering the final day of competition after shooting a two-under 142. Gresh carded a one-over 73 in the first round, followed by a three-under 69 in the second round. Branca shot a one-under 71 in both the first and second round.
Senior Nick Micek scored a two-under 70 in the first round, before slipping in the second round with a four-over 76. Micek finished tied for 54th at two-over par (146). Freshman Chance Cota sits one stroke behind Micek after shooting a two-under 70 in the first round, followed by a five-over 77 in the second round. Cota finished the day tied for 68th with a three-over 147.
The final round will tee off tomorrow morning at the 72-par Palm Valley Golf Club.
