BEAUMONT, Calif. - Dustin Pimm finished with a four-over 220 to pace the Utes at the Braveheart Classic. Pimm tied for ninth place overall. Pimm shot a 74 (+2) in the first round, a 75 (+3) in the second round before shooting a one-under 71 in the third and final round. As a team, Utah shot a three-round score of 901 (+37) to finish in 11th place. UCLA won the team title with a score of 865 (+1).
Freshman Mike Branca tied for 39th place overall with an 11-over 227. Branca shot an eight-over 80 in the first round, followed by a two-over 74 and a one-over 73 in the second and third rounds, respectively. Sophomore Chris Gresh finished one stroke behind Branca with a 12-over 228. Gresh finished the first round with a six-over 78 before shooting a three-over 75 in the final two rounds to finished tied for 48th.
Senior Nick Micek shot a 16-over 232 to finish tied for 68th. Micek shot a 76 (+4) in the first round, a 73 (+1) in the second round and an 83 (+11) in the final round. Nick Carter rounded out the competitors for the Utes with a three-round score of 240 (+24) to finish tied for 91st. Carter shot an 81 (+9) in the first round before finishing with an 82 (+10) and a 77 (+5) in the second and third rounds, respectively.
Up next, the Utes travel to San Diego, Calif., to compete in the Farms Invitational March 13-14.
