SANDWICH, England - University of Utah sophomore golfer Dustin Pimm has qualified for the match play portion of the British Amateur Golf Championship.
Pimm opened play Monday at Prince's Golf Course in Dover, England on Monday. He shot a three-over par score of 75 on the first day. Tuesday, Pimm recorded a five-over par score of 76 at Royal St. George's Golf Course in Sandwich.
His eight-over total of 151 strokes was good enough to tie him for 52nd place after the stroke play portion of the event. The tournament moves into a match play format Wednesday, with the top 64 golfers from stroke play advancing. The tournament opened with 288 amateur golfers from all over the world.
Pimm takes to the course on Wednesday morning in the first round of match play. He'll face Wallace Booth of Comrie, England. Booth was tied for 64th with a nine-over total of 152 in the stroke play portion of the event.
The second round of match play will take place later in the day on Wednesday. Rounds three and four will be held Thursday. The quarterfinals and semifinals are Friday, with the championship match taking place on Saturday.
