Ute Gymnasts Rack Up Academic Honors

Two months after finishing second at the NCAA Gymnastics Championships, the Utah gymnastics team is racking up more honors--this time on the academic front. Six Utes were named NACGC/W Scholastic All Americans for their 3.5 or better GPA: Kristina Baskett, Dominique D'Oliveira, Gritt Hofmann, Natalie Nicoloff, Beth Rizzo, and Rachel Tidd, who is on a medical scholarship and did not compete in 2006.
Achieving Mountain West Conference status were Baskett, D'Oliveira, Hofmann, Nicoloff and Rizzo. They also made the University of Utah Dean's List. Both of those awards also require a 3.5 GPA.
Twelve Ute gymnasts made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll (3.0 or better GPA). Those honorees were Baskett, D'Oliveira, Nicolle Ford, Hofmann, Nina Kim, Katie Kivisto, Nicoloff, Gabriella Onodi, Ashley Postell, Kristen Riffanacht, Rizzo and Tidd.
The team GPA for the 2005-06 academic year was 3.3577.
