SALT LAKE CITY - Four University of Utah swimmers are slated to compete at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships set to start on Tuesday, Aug. 1. It will be held at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatic Center in Irvine, Calif., and it ends on Aug. 5
Amber Walter, Jennifer Fredsall, Alison McInturff and Marissa Martin will compete for spots on five international teams, including the team that will head to the Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria, British Columbia on Aug. 17-21.
"I am extremely proud of the dedication to excellence these ladies have committed themselves to this summer," said Utah head coach Michael Litzinger. "They have trained hard and no doubt will perform well at these trials."
Walter will swim in three events (the 50 free, 100 free and 100 breast), Fredsall in two (50 free and 100 fly), McInturff in two (100 free and 200 free) and Martin in one (200 back).
The field includes more than 20 Olympic gold medalists, including such stars as Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin, Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen and Katie Hoff.
