COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced today the 2006-07 women's basketball broadcast schedule that will include 32 games on national and regional television, nearly three times the coverage in 2005-06.
The University of Utah women's basketball team will be featured on either CSTV or the mtn. at least eight times this upcoming season. The Utes make their first appearance on the mtn. Dec. 4 at 7 p.m., when they host Southern Cal at the Huntsman Center.
Other non-conference games to be broadcast are: Arizona at Utah (Dec. 9, 3 p.m., the mtn.); and Northwestern at Utah (Dec. 20, the mtn., Noon).
Conference games to be televised are as follows: Utah at New Mexico (Jan. 7, 3 p.m., CSTV); TCU at Utah (Jan. 18, 7 p.m., the mtn.); BYU at Utah (Jan. 27, 1 p.m., the mtn.); Utah at BYU (Feb. 28, 8 p.m., CSTV).
In addition to the seven games listed above, all of Utah's Mountain West Conference Tournament games will be either on the mtn. or CSTV.
In total, 25 games will be shown on the Mountain West Sports Network - the mtn. - with seven games to be broadcast live nationally on CSTV: College Sports Television. A total of 15 conference matchups will be televised on the mtn.
The MWC television schedule tips off Friday, Nov. 10, with BYU hosting Idaho State in the first round of the WNIT and Pepperdine visiting UNLV, Sunday, Nov. 12. Conference play begins Wednesday, Jan. 3, with UNLV facing TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
Today's television announcement reflects the new partnership between CSTV Networks and Comcast for ownership and distribution of the mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network. The mtn. is the first ever 24-hour sports network devoted exclusively to a single conference. The mtn. will not only broadcast live games, but will air a variety of studio shows, including pre and post-game shows, which break down MWC games, look ahead to the big games on the horizon and feature extensive game highlights.
