ST. GEORGE, Utah - After a slow start Monday the Ute golfers saw significant improvement Tuesday, moving up three places in the team standings to finish fourth overall.
"We had a pretty decent day," head coach Randall McCracken said. "We didn't play bad considering our lack of practice over the winter."
Pacing the Utes in the final round was junior Nicholas Larson. After firing a three-over 75 on Monday, the Riverton, Wyo. native carded a four-under-par 68 Tuesday to lead the team. Fellow junior Dustin Pimm also finished strong, firing a two-under-par 70 to finish at even par for the tournament. Sophomore Chance Cota improved his opening-round score of 75 by 15 strokes, matching Pimm at two-under-par in the final round.
"We got some key wins against some good teams today," added coach McCracken. "We're very excited to get on the road again and play in Hawaii."
Utah continues its spring season Feb. 21-23 in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the John Burns Intercollegiate.
