BEAUMONT, Calif. - Nicholas Larson, Dustin Pimm and Steven Broker led the University of Utah to a third place finish Tuesday at the Braveheart Classic, hosted by UC Riverside. The University of Jacksonville won the tournament, with Osprey golfers claiming the top three finishes. UCLA finished second.
Utah enjoyed its third top-three finish of the season Tuesday, and its first of the spring season. Utah's last top-three finish was in early October, when the Utes placed second at the Wolf Pack Classic.
Play began Tuesday at 7:30 AM, as tournament officials were forced to suspend Monday's second round early due to darkness. Pacing the Utes Tuesday was junior Nicholas Larson, who improved on his opening-round score of 80, to fire a 77 and 72 in the concluding rounds, tying for 11th place. Dustin Pimm, who led the tournament after one round of play finished tied for 18th after ending the tournament with rounds of 79 and 77. Steven Broker gave the Utes three golfers in the top 25, finishing tied for 24th place.
Utah will have a week off before traveling to Goodyear, Ariz. to compete in the Ron Moore Invitational (Mar. 19-20).
