SALT LAKE CITY - Ann Ronchetti has been named the Director of Marketing and Doug Knuth promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Development for the University of Utah. The announcement was made today by Utah Director of Athletics, Dr. Chris Hill.
Ronchetti joins the Utah Athletics staff after working four years as Assistant and Associate Director of Marketing for Syracuse Athletics. At Syracuse, Ronchetti managed the broad-based marketing, promotion and corporate sponsorship programs, as well as media, game day and fan experience activities for football and men's basketball. She also was in charge of overseeing the marketing for all 21 varsity sports.
Prior to Syracuse, Ronchetti served as a marketing and development assistant at the University of New Mexico in 2002-03. She developed and implemented a football marketing plan, group sales, negotiating corporate sponsorships, and numerous game day activities. She also worked as an assistant in the marketing department at Virginia Tech for two years.
Ronchetti earned her bachelor's degree in communications with a concentration in marketing from Virginia Tech in 2001. She is originally from Santa Barbara, Calif.
Doug Knuth, Utah's Crimson Club Director, has been promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Development. Knuth joined the Utah Athletics Department in September 2005 and led the Crimson Club to a record $3.8 million in 2006. Over the past six months, he also served as interim Director of Marketing and chaired the search that resulted in the hiring of Ronchetti.
Prior to joining the Ute Athletic Staff, Knuth served as Director of Annual Giving for Athletics at Michigan State University for five and a half years, and was part of a record-breaking athletic fundraising staff during the Campaign for MSU.
A native of Fairfield, Conn., Knuth is a graduate of University of Connecticut, where he captained the men's tennis team. He also holds a masters degree in sports management from Ohio University and an MBA from Northwood University.
