SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah softball center fielder Diana Phillips has been named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-West Region second team.
This year, Phillips was the team's top hitter with a .398 average and paced the team with four triples and with a .492 on-base percentage. In addition to those numbers, she had eight doubles, six homers and 24 RBI.
Her batting average ranked second in the league, while her on-base percentage was third and her 42 runs scored was fifth. Phillips' four triples were tied for the league lead.
Chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams. A total of 248 players from 121 different teams comprise the first and second regional teams.
