THIS WEEK:
The University of Utah golf team continues its fall campaign Sept. 24-25 at the Purple and Red Invitational. The tournament will be co-hosted by the University of Utah and Weber State University. The tournament will be held at Valley View Golf Club in Layton, Utah. Utah's lineup this week will feature Dustin Pimm, Nic Larson, Chris Gresh, Chance Cota and Steve Broker. Three other golfers will compete as individuals.

THE FIELD:
The following schools will compete at the 2007 Purple and Red Invite: Binghamton, Boise State, Dixie State, Gonzaga, Hartford, Idaho, Idaho State, Northern Colorado, Portland, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, Texas-Pan American, Utah, Utah State, Utah Valley State, Weber State and Wyoming ... Last season Utah tied with Hartford for the team title. Because Hartford's fifth individual score was lower than Utah's, they won the tiebreaker. Dustin Pimm finished second at seven-under-par and Chris Gresh finished tied for 15th at one-over-par. The second-place finish matched the Utes' best of 2006-07.

LAST WEEK:
The Utes competed in the Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., finishing fifth in a field of 17 teams. The tournament marked the first top-five finish for the Utes in nearly a year. Pepperdine won the team title at even par. Nic Larson led the team finishing fourth at three-under-par. Chris Gresh finished tied for 15th at four-over-par, giving the Utes two golfers in the top 20. Jesse Barnsley of Pepperdine was the individual medalist, finishing at 12-under-par.

UTE NOTES:
Utah's last top-five finish was at the 2006 Wolf Pack Classic last October ... Dustin Pimm holds the Purple and Red single-round record, firing an eight-under 64 in 2005 ... The Purple and Red Invitaional will be the Utes lone in-state tournament this fall. Utah will play in Provo this spring ... Nic Larson's fourth-place finish at the Tucker Invitational was a career best. His previous best finish was at the 2006 District 7 Shootout, where he finished seventh at five-under-par.
