Doug Knuth, the University of Utah Crimson Club's Executive Director, has been promoted to Associate Athletics Director for External Relations. The announcement was made today by Utah Director of Athletics, Dr. Chris Hill.
Knuth replaces Chris Ritrievi, who has accepted a position with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association as Vice President.
Knuth joined the Utah Athletics Department in September 2005 as Crimson Club Director. He was promoted to Assistant A.D. in the spring of 2007. During the 2007-08 year, the Crimson Club reached a record membership of 4,500 and raised a record $4.4 million.
Prior to joining the Ute Athletic Staff, Knuth served as Director of Annual Giving for Athletics at Michigan State University for five and a half years, and was part of a record-breaking athletic fundraising staff during the "Campaign for MSU."
A native of Fairfield, Conn., Knuth is a graduate of University of Connecticut, where he captained the men's tennis team. He also holds a master's degree in sports management from Ohio University and an MBA from Northwood University.
