SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's cross country team will travel to Bozeman, Mont. this Saturday for a three-mile race at the Bridger Golf Course. The race is set for a 9:45 a.m. MST start.
QUICK LOOK AT THE UTES
Last week, the Utes competed in the Colorado State Open, finishing third of eight teams. The top five finishes for Utah were Lauren Endersen (13th, 19:59.4), Carly Selleck (18th, 20:19.6), Janett Ern (20th, 20:21.2), Rachel Perkins (23rd, 20:27.4) and Kellie Anderson (29th, 20:51.8).
The Utes' top five runners finished closer together last week, and they are looking to continue that improvement this week in Bozeman.
Last year, the Utes finished in the middle, placing fourth of eight teams. Results from last year included a sixth place finish by Lauren Lewis (17:28.00), Anderson clocked in 19th (17:47), Alyssa Abbott came in 21st (17:53), Janett Ern finished 24th (17:58), Stephanie Skoreyko came in 43rd (18:31), Endersen finished 44th with a 18:32 time, and Alexis Davis finished 56th in the pack (19:15).
COACH KEP'S THOUGHTS
"We have had a great week of practice. I expect us to race better against a deeper field of Division I teams. We still will not be racing at full strength until our next race, but that continues to allow our younger runners an opportunity to step up," said head coach Kyle Kepler. "We will continue to work at having our pack finish closer together and running with greater efficiency in the first half of the race."
