INDIANAPOLIS -
The NCAA has announced the teams, individuals and preliminary sessions for the upcoming NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships in Lincoln, Neb., Apr. 16-18. The No. 2 seeded Utah Utes will open competition at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, Apr. 16.
Joining Utah in the second session on Apr. 16 is No. 3 Alabama, No. 6 Oregon State, No. 7 UCLA, No. 10 Arkansas and No. 11 Illinois. The afternoon session contains No. 1 Georgia, No. 4 LSU, No. 5 Florida, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 9 Stanford and No. 12 Penn State.
The top three teams from each of Thursday's preliminary rounds will advance to the Super Six team finals on Friday, Apr. 17, starting at 6 p.m. CT. The all-around winner will be determined on the first day of competition, which is also when individuals qualify into the event championships on Saturday, Apr. 18. Saturday's competition is scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT start.
Utah was assigned the following rotation for the preliminary round: bye, bars, beam, bye, floor, vault. Rotating with Utah will be individual all-around qualifier Sarah Curtis of Michigan.
Every team except Illinois has been to the NCAA Championships before, with Utah qualifying for all 28 championships to date. Alabama and Florida are both making their 27th NCAA appearance, followed by Georgia (26) and UCLA (25). Teams that competed at last year's NCAA Championships are Utah, Georgia, Stanford, Florida, LSU, Alabama, UCLA, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Oregon State.
Teams were seeded according to their National Qualifying Score (NQS), which is obtained by adding the Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) to the regional score. Teams qualifying into the 2009 NCAA Championships and their NQS can be found below.
