TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Utah men's golf team finished the second day of the 2009 Mountain West Conference Championships in eighth place Friday in Tucson, Ariz. At the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club. The Utes shot a second round total of 292 adding to their first-round score of 291 for a total of 583, at 15-over-par.
Senior Chance Cota shot the lowest round for the Utes so far this weekend of 68 to give him a total score of 143. Cota leads Utah tied for 18th place, at one-over-par.
Tied for 21st place, sophomore Chase Hite matched his first round of 72 for a total score of 144 at two-over-par.
Sophomore Derek Adams is tied for 30th place at five-over-par with a score of 147 (72, 75). Tied for 36th place freshman Kaleb Mahanes ended the second round at seven-over-par with a score of 149 (72, 77).
Mike Branca added a score of 80 for the second round to his first round score of 83 to put him in 45th place with a total score of 163, at 21-over-par.
