SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah golf team will open the fall season with the 55th William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of New Mexico, held on the 7,591-yard, par-72, UNM Championship course. The action will begin with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start on Friday with 36 holes and wrap up Saturday with the remaining 18 holes.
The Field: Sixteen teams are set to accompany the Utes in the field, they include, Air Force, Arizona, Baylor, BYU, Campell, Colorado, UNLV, New Mexico State, North Texas, Pepperdine, San Diego State, UTEP, UT-San Antonio, Wyoming, and Texas A&M, defending NCAA National Champion.
The Last Time: Last year the Utes completed the tournament with a ninth-place finish out of 16 teams, with a three round total 904 (304, 301, 299). Chase Hite had the best outcome for the current Utah team shooting a score of 228, at 12-over-par. Mike Branca added a mark of 234, while Derek Adams and Jeff Kitches both shot scores of 235.
UNLV won the tournament last year at 12-under-par, with a three round total 852 (277, 292, 283). The Lobos finished in second place with a score of 863. Eddie Olson of UNLV and Derek Tolan of Colorado tied for first place in the individual standings with respective final scores of 211.
