COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Utah men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the 41st USAFA Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational hosted by the Air Force Academy. The Utes finished the day in first place after shooting a two round total of 564 (276, 288), 12-under-par.
Junior Mike Branca is leading the Utes in a first place tie with Steve Bidney of Northern Colorado. Branca shot a mark of 137 (65, 72), seven-under-par.
At one-over-par, Chase Hite ended the first day with a score of 145 (72, 73) along with teammates Kaleb Mahanes (72, 73) and Jeff Kitches (67, 78).
Rounding out the Utah roster is Derek Adams in a 42nd-place tie after a two round total of 147 (77, 70), three-over-par.
UNLV is in second place in the team standings with a score of 567. Washington State University is one stroke behind in third place with a score of 568
The Utes will continue play tomorrow beginning at 8:15 a.m. with the final 18 holes.
