SALT LAKE CITY - Utah senior women's basketball player Kalee Whipple has been honored by the Associated Press as an honorable mention All-American.
Whipple, who was a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection, finished second in the conference in scoring (16.4 ppg) and was sixth in rebounding (6.9 rpg), leading the conference in minutes played (37.0). Her .763 free-throw percentage ranked sixth in the MWC.
Whipple set a school and conference record with 45 points against TCU on Feb. 10. She averaged a double-double in the MWC Tournament, scoring 12.5 points with 11.3 rebounds per game.
The four-time All-MWC player finishes her career ranked third all-time in MWC history and fourth in school history in points scored (1,964). She averaged 14.8 points over her career.
Whipple also ranks fourth all-time in school history in rebounds (905), second in three-point field goals made (238) and fifth in free-throw percentage (78.6).
Utah advanced to the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), finishing with a 23-12 record.
