Denver, Colo. - In a multi-team events, Utah men's team beat Seattle University 153-68 while the women topped Colorado School of Mines 192-50 and Seattle University 151-83. Denver came out with the win against both Ute teams, the men 133.50-96.50 and the women 142.50-99.50.
The Ute women's relay teams continue to be strong this season as the 200 medley relay of Traycie Swartz, Nicole Ligeza, Hannah Caron and Samantha Zuch won the event with a time of 1:44.48. The 400 free relay team included Valerie McMullen, Chardonnay Biter-Mundt, Maddie Jamora and Danielle Caldwell, collaborating to take fourth (3:34.74)
Zuch won the 500 free (5:06.32) and took the runner-up spot in the 200 free (1:52.84).
Two events were won by Swartz as she touched in a time of 51.51 in the 100 free and recorded a 23.65 swim in the 50 free.
Hannah Caron continues to impress in her senior season as she wins the 200 IM (2:07.17) and takes second in the 200 fly (2:07.65).
Caldwell contributed points with a fourth-place finish in the 200 back (2:06.56) and Ligeza assisted by finishing fourth in the 200 breast (2:25.30) and sixth in the 200 IM (2:10.15).
Ellis Walters did well on the boards placing second in the 1-meter dive (270.35) and third in the 3-meter (249.05).
Nick Soedel had a great meet for the men as he won both his individual events. He recorded a 20.35 time in the 50 free setting a new personal record for himself. He also won the 100 free (45.50) and assisted Ken Tiltges, Bjorn Gunnarsson and Andy Lamb in the winning 400 free relay (3:02.83).
Ryan Hansen took third place in the 1000 free with a time of 10:00.65. Eric Bonicelli was just seconds behind in fourth. (10:05.78).
Karson Applin grabbed third in the 200 IM (1:55.64) while Gunnarsson contributed two fourth-place finishes in the 100 free (46.29) and the 50 free (21.04).
The runner-up slot in the 200 back was awarded to Major Robinson with a time of 1:53.40. Robinson also joined with Winter Heaven, Hansen and Alex Brown to place fourth in the 400 free relay (3:10.27).
Caleb Herrick celebrated his first-ever collegiate win when he scored a 300.80 in the 1-meter dive to win the event. The score also earned him his first NCAA Zone qualifying score. Brandon Stopplemoor was first in the 3-meter dive (315.80) and took the runner-up slot in the 1-meter (297.75).
The Ute's next competition is the Wildcat Diving Invitational Nov. 18-20 in Tucson, Ariz.
